Let’s hitch a train ride out of Singapore~

Not to escape from Blocks haha but to experience a train ride from KTM station to M’sia! Okay it’s lunch break now so will attempt to stay sane by posting this. My family went to the KTM railway station yesterday and met with quite a crowd there – seems like the whole of Sinagpore is flocking there now that it’s going to stop operating.

It’s quite cool to see how amidst all the urban landscapes, HDB blocks, MRT line, there’s actually a railway station, right smack in the middle of Cantonment area, and beside an expressway! Contrast (: And when you step in, it’s quite like a different world. You don’t see Sinagpore, you don’t see modern glass panels or ticketing machines that allow you to enter the departure platform with an easy tap of a card/scanning of fingerprint. There are people working to collect the tickets (how do you refer to these people, ticket collection man?) manually. And there are no air-conditioned food courts or 7-Eleven stores, it’s just simple hawker stalls selling Nasi Lemak, Ramly burgers etc.

Yesterday everyone in the station was snapping photos of the whole station, but come to think of it, the station kind of looks like other places, like something common you can find in other countries, probably? The whole get-up, the hawker stalls, the whole feel – you can get it if you go overseas too. But I think people are treasuring a part of Singapore that will soon be history. And like what my mum said, people take a lot of things for granted and only start treasuring them when they are about to go/are gone. It’s really quite sad to realise things only when you’ve lost them, and so I’m going to make an effort to be appreciative of what life has for me/everyone else.

There was a train parked there! Haha I’m not sure if there usually are trains there already, but at least we got to catch a glimpse of it. Makes me feel like I’m on platform 9 3/4 and if I go on the train I’ll be zooming to Hogwarts :D Sadly, Hogwarts is not in Malaysia. (the photo may not seem very significant or anything but there’s this nostalgic feel to it so just posted it haha!)

And yep that marked the end of our very short visit there. And it’s also the end of my break ): Feel like posting other stuff, but will keep them for another time. Till then~ (JY FOR TOMORROW!!!)
