Chinese New Year has always been a special and favourite time of the year, a period where work and school are set aside to usher in the New Year and time is spent more importantly on catching up with relatives and friends. Every year, I am grateful for this time of catching up, especially with cousins whom we barely meet throughout the year. Even though the age gap may be pretty big among us cousins, it’s really heartening that my older cousins make time to ask us about our lives and all, and as usual, remark about how big we’ve all grown.
Mum never fails to buy flowers to brighten up the house, and it’s Tulips this year!
Ornaments on the pussy willow – my siblings and I used to fight (friendly though) over who gets to peel away the most dried parts of the pussy willow to expose the white parts of the plant, haha.
Grandma’s - The place we spent all our Sundays at since we were young (:
Favourite Sunday lunch with the usual dishes, with Ah Ma in the background.
The ladies checking each others’ new bags out
A common sight every Sunday afternoon, just that it’s mostly new shoes on CNY Sunday
Mum and a much taller Ben. Really happy to see him growing up well!
I hope these CNY traditions don’t ever die out, and may every reunion be as cherished as ever. Blessed CNY to all!
