This deserves a post (:

The holidays so far have been rather packed but what made everything enriching so far was, as insignificant as it sounds (but means something to me, still), the experience gotten from going back to NY and also helping out for Mentoring Camp campfire.

Some people wonder why in the world we still go back to help; for me I guess it’s really the attachment to the CCA and of course the people there, and wanting to help the juniors in any way possible. Had a talk with the teachers and it was somewhat like talking to Ms Ng (minus the fierce factor haha). So the talk helped to conceptualise a lot of things that were floating around but not expressed, like mm some minus points about NY, the differences between secondary school and JC, and other stuff which is not necessarily always good. And how life as an adult is so different from a student; stepping out of comfort zones and all. Which kind of pre-empted me for what to expect as an adult. It’s scary, don’t wish to think about it as of now. Oh yes, as June mentioned and emphasised, the teachers need a well-deserved break from everything. ( Gatheringggg? :D ) No words can express how much they are respected for being able to trudge through the whole period over and over again without complaining much and putting the whole company as their priority. It’s hard, especially when there’s work and family to juggle.

Okay onto less mood-dampening stuff, I love the Sec 1s :D So much! Some of them were really adorable and hmm I would say they’re really bright children (yes, they’re still children. During Charades, one of the words was ‘Avatar’ and the girl acted out the Kids Central airbender Avatar instead of the blue-skinned creature. Generation gap already wow haha.) Yep and some of them have lofty ambitions like wanting to own Kate Spade bags in the future, or toying with the prospect of being a Minister. It was quite an eye-opener, oh but in Sec 1 I was more concerned about the transition from primary to secondary and trying to adapt to everything which includes learning the Chinese pledge haha and getting used to the uniform which felt really awkward initially, and nowhere near thinking of what to study in Sec 3/JC/Uni/futureeeee. Some of them have it got all planned out. Or at least, for now. It always changes. Wanted to be a teacher in Primary School but it has definitely changed. But the point is, it’s quite cool that they’re thinking like that; it’s really different from us in the past. It’s cool, they’re really bright and some question stuff and not just follow blindly, which seems promising (:

So all in all quite a pleasant trip back though the second day was really exhausting. But good to see everyone back there, as usual. (:

Campfire today – really didn’t want to go for that at first because all the energy has been zapped out of me after the two days of remedials and full day activity. But hey I’m so glad I went for it because it was a precious opportunity to really talk and catch up with friends. And reminisce about secondary years, or the past two years in OAC, what’s gonna happen in the future, etc. Haha sounds so serious right, but it was a good talk while tending to the fire. Oh and same shirt!!! Applauds our 默契 :D

( Anyway, go June, go Hui Yan, I have faith that you guys will go into the courses that you want in future and I really look forward to seeing how you guys have all grown up after schooling years! Both your insights were really interesting, June c’mon I can see some of your mum in you la (: Haven’t seen your (super cool) (oh bracket within a bracket!! HAHA. Okay randoms aside) dad so can’t say much about that. And Hui Yan you’re destined to work with money srsly. Dependable treasurer! Don’t care Derrick haha. )

AND THE KIDS WERE SO HAPPY OHMY :D :D :D Like what June said, it’s always nice to be a kid again where you can laugh at the littlest things even though they’re really not funny at all. They are entertained so easily, and glad the mentors could give them more fun and bonding that would ultimately contribute to their happy childhood memories/years which is usually the best/most carefree years of your life.

To end off, and this is quite old news but Scotty won American Idol!! Good for him but just thought that this year’s wasn’t really a huge thing to look forward to ( cos there’s no Pia D: ) Haha no la, just… AI is lacking, no more Simon, no more critical and entertaining comments. Still, am looking forward to the next season!

Terrified by Katharine McPhee is a nice song. Oh and Hui Ying’s iPod touch has awesome songs too. Sigh, got to figure out how to use programmes like iTunes one day, seriously I feel like such a technological newbie sometimes. Haha sometimes after figuring shortcuts like Ctrl A is to highlight everything, you feel proud for figuring it out but it just gets dampened when others already knew it long ago! I used to not know how to set up the whole Wii thing at home but my brother does it almost everyday like it’s as easy as brushing teeth.

Oh and turning on the TV at home requires 3 controllers (1 to turn on the screen so you see an image, 1 for volume so you don’t watch in silence, 1 for the channels so that all you see is not a blue screen and all you hear is not nothing), hmmmmm I’ve always wondered, it’s ONE TV, why the need for three controllers?? Great that technology’s advancing but sometimes these techy stuff are confusing (haha apparently all three controllers have buttons to control volume so if you haven’t used them for a long time, you wouldn’t know which controller’s volume button to press). Am amazed at my dad and brother for knowing all these at their fingertips (:

Okay am really going off this time! There are many other things to be organised into words but they’ll probably come at a slightly later time. Oh yes, 4 weeks of June may sound long, but we all have to learn to treasure it, they’ll slip by before we know it. We’re halfway into the race towards A’s so study hard everyone!
